Annie's Aunt Nancy and Uncle David

came to visit us in Marburg this week.

We were glad to see them and give them

a chance to get to know Najeeb and Rana.

Relaxing in the park

We spent many an hour relaxing with friends in the park this week.

The weather has been fantastic.

And Rana is over her fear of the grass, so she has

started to wander and explore her surroundings more.

Because the weather hasn't been that great this

summer, we get out to enjoy the sun when it shines!

We had a nice walk in the park with Roberta today.

Rana is even starting to get over her fear of grass! ;)

She can stand up without holding on to

anything now. We're not sure when she

mastered this feat, but we noticed it yesterday!

We're glad she is back to her normal, playful self!

Home again, home again

Rana's fever is gone, so she was released from the hospital this afternoon. She's still a little worn out, but doing much better. As you can see in this video, she didn't seem that phased about spending three days in the hospital, but we are all hoping for a quiet night in our own beds tonight!

In the weeks ahead, we will be going back to the hospital for more tests and starting physical therapy again. Although we are feeling a little too familiar with this entire situation, we are grateful for the care Rana is receiving and thankful that she continues to surprise everyone.

Back in the Hospital

Rana is back in the hospital. She has a very ordinary virus that caused a fever, but it seems to have set off a chain reaction in her little brain, as she started having seizures/twitching early Wednesday morning. The doctors have said that it is not uncommon for children who have had strokes etc. to have seizures when they have a high fever, and this was one of the warnings they had given us when they released her from the hospital after her strokes.

She is in a normal hospital room in the children's ward and the twitching has subsided. Her fever is going up and down, so she is her playful self lots of the time.

She will have to stay in the hospital until the fever breaks for good, at which point the doctors plan to run a few more tests.
