Out and About

We've been out and about in Marburg this week.

We went to several of Najeeb's soccer games
and visited two nearby villages with beautiful castles.
Annie's friend Sophie spent a few afternoons with us...
...as did Lisa (all the way from Chicago!).

Five Weeks Old!

Rana had lots to smile about today. She had her first check-up with the neurologist, who said there is less evidence of seizure activity in her brain. This is a very good sign!! In addition, Rana was taken off of her blood thinners, which means we don't have to give her any more shots!

Pretty in Pink!

We love having Rana home!

Every day feels a little more normal...

...especially Saturdays, for we don't have to see any doctors!!

Four Weeks Old!

We are enjoying adjusting to life with Rana, going for walks,

taking baths,

and just hanging out together (note the Rocky pose!).

The doctors believe an infection in her brain caused Rana's troubles. The extent of the damages remains to be seen. So far, she seems just perfect and the doctors are hopeful that her young and fluid brain will adapt and compensate for the damaged areas. In addition to her medications, she will be starting physical therapy tomorrow and see a neurologist regularly.

Independence Day!

As Americans celebrate Independence Day today in the States...
...we are celebrating Rana's independence here in Germany,
as she was released from the hospital after 25 days!

We enjoyed a pleasant evening with her at home and were happy to put her to sleep in her own bed!

Annie's parents arrived in Marburg today.

They joined us for our afternoon visit with Rana.
She was very pleased to meet them.

Three Weeks Old!

Rana turned three weeks old yesterday.
It was a green day - even her pacifier matched her lovely outfit,

which she found quite amusing.
